For taxi cabs, considering it is financially strenuous to upgrade and rehabilitate traditional taxi cab fleets given the immense initial cost of overhauling standard gas power vehicles, the independent cab driver must take it upon themselves to operate their vehicle in the most environmentally conscious way possible. Thus, taxi cab drivers affiliated with Greencabbies.com make the following commitments to operating their taxi cab at a higher standard of social and environmental awareness:
Operations
-Check daily tire pressure to ensure optimal gas mileage.
-Turn car off when idling or waiting for rides to reduce gas consumption (except during extreme temperatures).
-Increased consciousness of quick acceleration and driving style as it effects gas mileage.
-Using only environmentally friendly and non-toxic cleaning products to clean taxi cab.
-Offer recycling for customers who bring potentially recyclable waste in the taxi cab.
Carbon Neutrality
-Offsetting the annual carbon footprint of their own taxi cab and one additional taxi cab not operated by a GreenCabbie. That means, by supporting a GreenCabbie you are helping to neutralize the carbon footprint of 2 taxi cabs per year.
-Offsetting the carbon footprint of each of our VIP Sustainer customer's flights. This means by taking a GreenCabbie to the airport you have a carbon neutral seat on your flight.
Supporting Local and Green Business
-Provide all customers with discounts and incentives to green and local business partners in an effort to promote their businesses and the local economy.
-Purchase products and services from green and local businesses when and where available and applicable.
Community Outreach
-Commit to working with community organizations to provide volunteer taxi services to assist with logistical and/or transportation assistance.
