You heard of carpool, so...

In Austin,Texas a taxicab can legally transport 4 passengers, though, on many occasions taxicabs may only be transporting one or two passengers per ride.  Not only does this practice contribute to greater consumption of fossil fuels by taxicabs, but it also leaves passengers waiting longer for a taxicab ride during peak hours.  More taxicabs taking less people equates to more people waiting for and taking less taxicabs... until now.

Greencabbies.com is developing a "taxi-pool" system to maximize the space in taxicabs during peak hours so that each trip utilizes the full capacity of the taxicab, thus reducing the carbon footprint of city wide taxicab operations. Also, this method allows for an entire group to pay for one cab fair reducing the overall cost of the cab fare for each party.

Greencabbies.com taxi pooling strategies fill the space in taxicabs with Greencabbies.com friends who have drop off and pick up points within a close proximity of each other.  This means we do not take you out of your way to fill up the cab with passengers.  We only taxi-pool if the geographic location of the various destinations are within reasonable proximity of each other.
